Two Delightful Devon Seagull Bowls (hw724)
Two lovely bowls made in the 1950s at the Dartmouth pottery in Devon. The bowls which were probably intended for sugar both depict a seagull on a rock against a soft blue background. All decoration is handpainted and the bowls are hand thrown. The inside of the bowls have a cream glaze with a band of terracotta glaze at the rim. The base of the bowls bear the Dartmouth pottery mark.
These beautiful pieces are evocative of long-ago seaside holidays and this particular seagull design is very sought after.
The bowls are approximately 9cm and 7cm high respectively. In excellent condition.
