Beautiful Begonias by Anna Gasteiger (pg540)
A very rare, original print by Anna Gasteiger. This exceedingly large print dates to the 1940s and is set into its original gesso and wood frame. It depicts superbly pretty begonias in a planter upon a table with an open window in the background; the whole scene is both colourful and cheering, and presents a very real sense of Summertime. Anna Gasteiger was a German artist (1877-1954) who was renowned for her floral still life paintings and the originals will fetch many thousands of pounds at auction today. This print is exceptionally rare due to its size and the beauty of the flowers is incredible.
This amazing print will take pride of place above a fireplace or dining table - wherever you place it you will delight in its beauty.
The frame is approximately 32.5" by 26". There is some age-related wear to the frame and a repair to the top left hand corner of it with some damage down one edge - this could be refixed if desired although it does not detract or affect the use. The picture has its original hanging wire and fixings - these should be checked to make sure they are secure or replaced because this is a very heavy picture.
