Pretty French Floral Bedspread (astb182)
A delightful French cotton bedspread from the 1950s. It is made from a nicely stiffish and substantial cotton and the pattern of light blue striping and summery pink florals and green foliage is fresh and pretty. It will probably fit a 4' wide bed or drape nicely on a standard 3' bed and has a softly gathered valance on the two long sides, and piped edges. There is a piped edge insert at the top of the bedspread which would have allowed for it to be placed over a bolster pillow, but it sits equally well over a standard pillow.
The bedspread measures approximately 51"wide between the piped edges and is 84" long. The valance measures 14" deep. The condition is wonderful with no fading to the colours. Some minor surface marks here and there which have most likely come about through handling and will wash out. There is no maker's name on the selvedge but it is most definitely of French origin!
Perfect for a guest bed or if you can bear to, there is enough fabric here for curtains, covering a chair and other soft furnishing projects.
