Superb Yard High Roses on Milk Glass (pg430)
This is a beautiful Victorian oil painting of Catherine Klein's yard high roses (often known as yard long paintings in the States, this particular example hangs in a portrait fashion.) It is painted in oils on milk glass and set into its original oak frame with gold inset border. The stunning roses and foliage are simply beautiful. The painting is unsigned and is a copy of Catherine Klein's original. It dates to the late Victorian, possibly the early Edwardian era and is one of two paintings from a specialist collection of paintings after Catherine Klein's fine work.
Although the same study as another painting on the website, the effect of the oils on the glass gives a richness and depth to the subject; truly a magnificent and breathtaking painting for your home.
The frame is approximately 19.5" (49cm) by 41" (105cm) and the glass is approximately 13" (33cm) by 36" (92cm.) There is a small fleck of paint missing near the top right hand side and the glass is secured at the back with its original wooden board backing. Please Note: This is a very fragile item and although it can be posted collection is recommended as it cannot be covered for damage in transit.
