Supremely Pretty 1930s Pink Floral Quilt (astb206)
Can this be the prettiest quilt you have ever seen? This truly adorable 1930s quilt is a real beauty. I have been told it may be a Durham or Welsh quilt, although it is machine stitched. These quilts date mainly to the Victorian period when they were handstitched, so it may well be a later Durham or Welsh quilt. Whatever its origins, there is no denying its beauty! The quilt is fully reversible, having a patterned and plain side. The soft, pale pink background of the decorative side is smothered in supremely pretty florals including roses, tulips and daisies. The reverse is a slightly deeper shade of pink. Both sides are made from cotton and it has a wadding or filling in between.
The quilt measures approximately 70" by 88". The condition is very good; there are minor markings to the reverse and a couple of small splits to the plain fabric. There is a small amount of wear near an edge on the plain side. There are a few minor water marks on the front, but due to the pattern these are hard to spot. I noted a small nick on the patterned side near a corner.
I can honestly say this is one of the most delightfully pretty quilts I have ever seen - if you have a passion for delicate florals and pink, then you are going to love this vintage beauty!
